My tips for great skin
My tips for great skin, so you always look young and resplendent
There was I time when I would go out clubbing, come home dead tired, and just throw myself into bed without even removing my clothes, let alone my makeup. And when I’d hit the beach, sun protection wasn’t exactly the first of my preoccupations. Moisturizers? Eye creams? Didn’t even know what they were! Now, of course, things have changed… very much for the better. And today I’d like to share with you some of my tips for great skin: just a few simple moves that can make all the difference – guaranteed!
Let’s be honest, when we’re young, pampering our skin and our body isn’t usually one of our top priorities. I dare any of you to tell me you’ve never woken up with your eyes smeared in the previous night’s makeup and mascara all over your cheeks (I call it the “panda effect”). OK, every now and then it’s permissible, at any age, but don’t let it become a habit, because a beautiful skin is first of all a skin that has time to breathe and regenerate itself. My tips for great skin start with this basic, simple principle: daily cleansing.
Cleanse, protect and hydrate: my tips for great skin are as simple as one, two, three!
As a rule of thumb, I like changing face care products often, to prevent my skin from getting so accustomed to any single formulation that it no longer has any effect. Nevertheless, I do have my favorites: at the top of my list for cleansers is Aveeno’s Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser, while as far as makeup removal, I love Clinuque’s Take The Day Off.
After cleansing, my second tip for great skin is protection. In the daytime, I never, ever leave the house without applying a layer of sunscreen. I know what you’re thinking: “but you look so much better and healthier with a bit of a tan!” No argument there, but keep in mind that UV-rays damage the skin. In fact, recent studies show they account for about 80% of all wrinkles and age spots. Solar protection doesn’t prevent tanning, but it does prevent skin damage, and also keeps your epidermis hydrated, so you don’t wind up looking like you have a dried prune where your face should be… And while there are many excellent products on the market, my favorite remains Derma Topix Oil Free Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 30.
When I feel the need, I also like to spoil myself with a nice hydrating gel mask, like Sake Brightening Hydrogel Mask by Boscia or Hydra Intense by Lancôme. These treatments instantly rejuvenate my face making it feel – and look! – softer, smoother, more radiant. The bottom line: there’s no magic or mystery behind my skin. My tips for great skin come down to a small daily effort and the desire to treat yourself right!
